Hosmer's aggressive base running sets the tone

The theme for the 2015 Kansas City Royals was ninety feet away. It was only 369 days ago when the Royals were ninety feet away from tying the game with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning in game seven of the World Series. All offseason Kansas City had that bad taste in their mouth and the only way to get rid of it would be do things a bit different. Be aggressive, make the opponents make a play, and that is what happened. Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer made the aggressive move that will be talked about for years to come. It wasn't the game winning run but it was definitely the most important one. The run tied the game at 2 apiece in the 9th inning and it later went into extras where Kansas City dominated the 12th inning by scoring five more runs. KC wound up winning and clinching the 2015 World Series title 7-2.

Watch: ALEX RODRIGUEZ TIES WILLIE MAYS WITH HOME RUN #660

660

Alex Rodriguez smashes home run number 660 Friday night at Fenway Park joining Hall of Fame great Willie Mays for fourth all-time on Major League Baseball home run list. Rodriguez, who was brought in as a pinch hitter, slams a 3-0 pitch over the Green Monster off Red Sox pitcher Junichi Tazawa to break a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning. It was Alex's first ever pinch hit home run and it ended up being the game winner. Take a look: via MLB.com

I guess its good to know Arod still has the green light on 3-0! Now the question is do the Yankees pay him the milestone bonus they now owe for tying Mays? In case you didn't know the Yankees have gone out of their way not to mention A-Rod was approaching the historic mark. The Yankees stance is they don't want to be associated with Rodriguez and the PEDs scandal. Home run #660 isn't marketable and they don't plan to pay the $6million dollar bonus. Of course the players association will have to get involve which could actually become ugly. I don't think the Yankees organization was expecting quite a turnaround from Alex as he has hit six home runs thus far after missing all of last year from suspension.

If the Yankees can accept a game winning home run from Alex then they can damn well pay the bonus that is owed to him. Well, we will see how this soap opera plays out; but as for now congrats on #660 A-Rod.

MLB Suspends 6 players for the Royals-White Sox brawl

KCCHI

Major League Baseball came down with the hammer Saturday morning suspending six players from Thursday's brawl between the Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. Six players have been suspended and one other has been fined for their roles.

Kansas City pitcher Yordano Ventura will received a seven-game suspension; pitcher Edinson Volquez was handed a five-game suspension; outfielder Lorenzo Cain a two-game suspension; and pitcher Kelvin Herrera a two-game suspension. Herrera is already appealing a five-game suspension for last weekend's incident when he threw at Oakland's Brett Lawrie.

There are reports that all members will appealing the ruling. Chicago pitchers Chris Sale and Jeff Samardzija both got a five-game suspensions and Chicago catcher Tyler Flowers was not suspended but was fined an unknown amount. It's reported that Sale attempted to get into the Royals clubhouse after his ejection, while the game was still on-going. Sale refused to confirm or deny those reports on Friday.

The incident had been escalating ever since Ventura struck White Sox slugger Jose Abreu in the left elbow in the fourth inning. Chris Sale retaliated an inning later by hitting Mike Moustakas which led to both teams being warned. Then came the seventh inning when Adam Eaton hit a comebacker at Ventura and before he threw the ball to first base, he said an explicit remark at Eaton which led to the fight.

Royals and White Sox were scheduled to play on Saturday but has been post-poned because of weather.

Watch: Kris Bryant's Lil League Home Run!

I guess we can call it a Lil League Home Run because it's not a Major League Home Run! For all you Cubs fans across America, your super phenom Kris Bryant is putting some serious wood on the ball as of late. Bryant is 6 for 14 (.429) with four RBIs in four games since his debut this past Friday. Here's a look at his lil league home run: via MLB.com
So as you can see it wasn't quite a big league homer but it was a tie breaking two-run double that gave the Cubs a 4-1 lead. Bryant ended up with three hits and three RBIs Monday night to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Watch: Umpire Brian Knight Get Smoked By A 96-MPH Fastball

NYDN
NYDN

We all know how dangerous it to get hit by a pitch. The last person expected to get hit would be the umpire. Why? Well because one of two things are expected to happen. The batter will either put the ball in play or the ump should feel confident that the catcher, who is sitting right in front of him, will use his big catcher's mitt to CATCH THE BALL! Well take a look at what happen to major league umpire Brian Knight during the Washington Nationals/Philadelphia Phillies game.

via federalbaseball

Come on Jose Lopez! 96-mph fastball to the face? Catch the DAMN BALL! That's why we wear face guards and helmets folks! Umpire Brian Knight left the game and as they say he is day-to-day.

Watch: Brett Lawrie's hard slide injures Alcides Escobar

escobar

There is no excuse for this play and especially as late of a slide as it was! What probably was no more than a force play at second base ended in a Alcides Escobar knee sprain in the 7th inning of a 4-4 tie between the KC Royals and Oakland A's. Brett Lawrie slid into second high spikes and all as if he was trying to breakup a double play.

Take a look. Via Benches cleared and some exchanged words went on between both teams but that was it. Alcides Escobar is the most durable player on the team playing all 162 games last season. Escobar left the game in the 7th inning on his own; but probably will miss some games. Could there be retaliation in tomorrow's game. Royals' flamethrower Yordano Ventura is on the mound!
