Watch: Mets turn Three On Puig’s Blunder!

HARRY HOW/GETTY IMAGES  HARRY HOW/GETTY IMAGES

In the bottom of the sixth inning the New York Mets turn a rare 5-4-3-2 triple play against the Dodgers Sunday afternoon with the help of the aggressive base running by Yasiel Puig.  Matt Kemp hits a routine ground ball to third with runners on first and second.  What was thought to be a double play ended in the Mets first triple play since 2010.  Take a look: (via MLB.com) Puig is at it again! What makes him so exciting at times is also his downfall. Puig is going to get that third base coach fired!

Watch: Russian GP3 Driver Goes Airborne Without A Scratch

MotorSportsTalk                                                                     MotorSportsTalk

Russian GP3 driver Konsantin Tereschenko can count his lucky stars or perhaps play the lotto after this wild display today during a practice session at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.  Take a look at how fortunate the 20-year-old driver is after this unexpected crash he endured today:

My Lamb!  This would have been perfect scene for the latest Fast & Furious series or Need For Speed! What do you think the Russian driver was thinking as he went airborne, rolling over and crashing down into the pavement.  This was Tereschenko practice debut as you can see how cool he was after the crash taking off his glove while the back-end of his race car was on fire!  I can only imagine what the response would have been if that was me.  First you say it, then you do it!

Watch: Fan's Attempt At Catching Foul Ball Becomes Epic Failure!

mlbgifs                                                       mlbgifs

Note to anyone attempting to catch a foul ball.  When catching a souvenir at a baseball game you might only get one opportunity.  If you are going to make a heroic attempt you better come up with the ball.  Watch this attempt at catching a foul ball earlier today:
— MLB GIFS (@MLBGIFs) August 13, 2014COME ON MAN!  Is this the best you can do?  You are falling over chairs and to think you missed the ball completely!  Hold on, hold on, are you alright man?  He's alright?  Good, good glad you are okay.  Man look at yourself, shaking my head! Take notes from this kid who does it the right way: (via MLBGIFS)

Watch: Kid Shows Off Major League Skills

mlb.com
                                                  mlb.com

Check out this kid showing off his major league skills at the Colorado Rockies/San Diego Padres game Monday night.  The ball sailed down third base line and out of the reach of third baseman Nolan Arenado into foul territory.  Watch the kid in the blue shirt make a heck of a grab:   (via MLBGIFS) Why isn't this kid somewhere playing in the Little League World Series? Oh and the reaction after the catch, like this was routine!  Here kid, here's a ball and to think of all the adults that catch foul balls wouldn't even think of giving their souvenir away. Kudos kid!

Watch: Jarrod Dyson Helps KC Royals Flip To 8 In A Row

kansascity.com                                                      kansascity.com

If you take a minute and look at the AL Central standings you will notice that the mighty Detroit Tigers are no longer leading the way.  That's because the Kansas City Royals have storm passed the Tigers winning eight straight and 9 of their last 10 ball games.  The Royals are not made up of household names anymore but one man in particular stood out after catching the final out of Monday night's 3-2 victory over the Oakland A's.  Check out the celebration by center fielder Jarrod Dyson: (via MLB.com)

Not often will you see a baseball player do flips in the outfield. For many years we were accustom to seeing St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith do his legendary flip prior to the start of the game.  The American League has been put on notice that the Royals are winning with no-name players minus our new shining star, Mr. Jarrod Dyson!

Watch: Clayton Kershaw Bids For A Gold Glove

www.insidesocal.com                                                                    www.insidesocal.com

When you're Clayton Kershaw, you can't always rely on striking out every batter you face; but you may be required to get a little dirty and play some defense as well.  Kershaw did just that as he was preserving a 2-1 Dodgers lead in the fifth inning of today's Dodgers/Brewers game where there was an attempted squeeze play by Jean Segura.  Take a look at Kershaw's Gold Glove play: (via MLB.com) Squeeze play gone wrong!  Weeks had no shot getting back and it was a heck of a play by Kershaw.  Clayton has won a Gold Glove back in 2011. I say he is bidding for his second one and this play has moved him at the top of the list.  He is the games most dominant pitcher right now and the big question is what can't he do?

Watch: Jeter passes Wagner On Hits List

YANKEES.COM                                                                                YANKEES.COM

Derek Jeter has sole possession of the sixth spot on the all-time hits list passing Honus Wagner Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.  Jeter's infield hit off Cleveland Indians ace, Corey Kluber, in the sixth inning was his 3,431 career hit.  He hit a little dribbler between third and short.  Lonnie Chisenhall made an attempt bare handed but couldn't make a play.  Take a look: (via MLB.com)
I would have to agree with that, what happen to the opposite field hit Derek? Jeter's last two hits to tie Wagner and pass him were both infield hits. A hit is a hit! Congratulations to The Captain!

Watch: David Peralta steals home

isportsweb.com                                                                                 isportsweb.com

David Peralta became the sixth Arizona Diamondbacks player to steal home successfully.   He managed to catch Colorado Rockies pitcher Rex Brothers and catcher Michael McKenry napping.  It happened in the bottom of the seventh inning after a Peralta triple.  David took advantage of the situation when McKenry lobbed the ball back to the mound.  Brothers never had a chance as he watched David hustle down third base line then crossed the plate for another Diamondbacks score.  Take a look: (via MLB.com)

Watch: Yasiel Puig breaks bat on a check swing

mlb.com                                                                              mlb.com

The legend continues as our eyes wait to see what Dodgers stud Yasiel Puig will do next.  In the rich history of major league baseball this has to be a first.  Puig breaks his bat on a check swing!  Yes, a check swing!  The umpire thought he foul tipped it and as you can see he did nothing of the such.  Take a look: (via MLB.com) Where is the foul tip ump? The announcer said it best, this is some Bo Jackson like strength. You can't make this up. Here's a different angle: (via Vine)
NO HUMAN BEING CAN DO THAT! Puig just did, he even surprised himself. I wonder was the bat cracked prior to the swing. Either way, another story to add to the Puig tall tale!

Watch: The Real Yasiel Puig shows up throws out Conger

thebiglead.com                                                                              thebiglead.com

After the lackluster play by Yasiel Puig Monday night that allowed Angels' speedster Albert Pujols to advance to second base on a sacrifice fly in-game one of the freeway series, Puig had a chance to make amends in a tight game Wednesday night.  His opportunity can against Hank Conger who figured to try his luck against the Dodger phenom.  Conger had a pretty good jump running on a 3-2 pitch as David Freese single to center.  Conger felt he had a chance to go first-to-third on Puig thinking the only a perfect throw would get him out.  Well, if that's all it would take then let's see what happens! (via MLB.com)
Do you think Yasiel took Pujols mocking him to heart Monday night? It looked to me it at least woke him up. That was a key play in the game as it would have been first and third and one out. Dodgers went on to win a close one 2-1.

Eaton is probably going to feel worse later on today!  Hopefully he will just be day-to-day because he is one of the few bright spots going for the White Sox.  Kudos for Adam Rosales  who is one of two people to have  career three home runs against Chris Sale, the other being Royals slugger Billy Butler.

David Murphy thrown out on bizarre play

cleveland.com/tribe                                                             cleveland.com/tribe
What look to be a potential rally by the Cleveland Indians in the bottom of the seventh inning ended up being a momentum stopper as David Murphy was victimized by a second baseball.  Yan Gomes had a RBI double down right field wall with David Murphy rounding third hoping to cut the lead in half; but he hesitated and ended up in the crossfire.  Look and see what happens:  (via MLB.com)

The second ball accidentally got away from the bullpen and onto the field which is why Murphy was caught off guard.Seems like a dead ball foul here! Oops wrong sport!  I can't believe they really called Murphy out on that play.  Murphy has a case and I don't see why they didn't overturn the call.  The potential rally ended up in a killjoy!  Glad this wasn't the difference in the game, Cleveland was served a whoopin losing 9-2 to their state rivals, the Cincinnati Reds.

Watch: Adam Dunn takes the mound for the White Sox

Yes, the heading is correct!  White Sox first baseman/designated hitter was asked to save the White Sox pitching staff from any additional embarrassment Tuesday night as his team was trailing the Texas Rangers 15-0.  Dunn came in the ninth inning looking to add starting or relief pitcher to his resume.  Let's see how he
does.
 (via cut4) Adam Dunn

Okay, okay, well as you can see, he's a little rusty!  The 14 year veteran is known for his big bat slugging 457 career home runs so no one expected King Felix or Kershaw!  Dunn allowed one run on two hits and a walk, he also brushed off on Elvis Andrus; but he did record an out!  One run isn't to shabby considering that starting pitcher John Danks gave up nine runs in a little over four innings!

Watch: Cubs Phenom Javier Baez Hits Game Winning Home Run

Javier Baez is one of best talents in the minor leagues.  He's an offensive threat who hits everything!  He can hit fastballs, curveballs, whatever you pitch!  Baez owns the minors leagues the last two seasons hitting 60 home runs and 191 RBI in 104 games.  Well the Chicago Cubs came calling his name Tuesday night and Javier didn't disappoint at all.  Baez is the said to be the best talent since Mike Trout.  In his first major league game Baez went hitless in his first four at-bats; but in the 12th inning Javier showed the Chicago Cubs why he was called up.  Take a look via MLB.com
His first major league hit is a game winning home run giving the Chicago Cubs the victory beating the Colorado Rockies 6-5 on Tuesday night!  Better get that rookie card!

espn.com                                                                                      espn.com

It's a big night for the Detroit Tigers as they bring David Price into the fold.  Price unfortunately gave up an early single to Jacoby Ellsbury in the bottom of the first inning.  Ellsbury persist on stealing second base thought he had a good jump on Price, instead he was picked off.  Watch and see what happens after
the rundown!
GIF: Jacoby Ellsbury could use a stealin' mitten, Ian Kinsler stepped on his hand in metal spikes
  (via CJzero)

Ouch IAN!  I guess Jacoby's hand getting stepped on by Kinsler's metal spikes was the consolation price for getting picked off and Ian stepping on Jacoby's hand was probably some frustration for not getting Jacoby out; but no harm the Tigers managed to get out of the first inning unscathed!

Watch: Pujols pulls a fast one on Puig

Steven A Perez
                                  Steven A Perez

For every sensational play made by L.A Dodgers center fielder Yasiel Puig results in a undisciplined superstar who still has some growing up do.  It happen again in the top of the eighth inning in an already 5-0 shutout displayed by their Orange County neighbors, the L.A Angels, as Albert Pujols teaches the young phenom a lesson on base running.  Josh Hamilton hits a fly ball dead center as Puig catches up to it and makes the routine catch; but watch what Pujols does while manning first base: (via MLB.com)
You have to love how Pujols, who by no means is a threat on the bases, just checked Puig by tagging up on that fly ball; but that's not all Pujols did. Watch Albert mock Puig during the middle inning:
via cjzero

We can officially call Yasiel Puig a lollygagger! As the great NBA analyst, Mark Jackson would say.  "Yasiel Puig, you're better than that!"

Watch: Freddie Freeman snatches souvenir from a fan

courtesy of mlb.com                                                                               courtesy of mlb.com

One of the many perks attending a baseball game in the majors is the possibility of leaving the stadium with a souvenir.  It's not often; but there are times when a foul ball or maybe even a home run ball comes in your direction.   You may only get one chance to get that ball so you may have to fight for it.  The only problem is you may have to wrestle a big league player for it.  Ask the fan in San Diego who attempted to catch a foul ball that drifted in the front row of the first base side.  What look like a souvenir for the eager fan ended up being a pretty nice catch by Freddie Freeman.  Take a look: (via MLB.com)

Looks like Freeman stole that baseball from that fan who had hands were all over it.  Was that fan interference?  Rules say if a fan touches the ball it means interference.  No challenge was used on that play so the out counted.  Oh by the way great concentration by Freddie Freeman leaning over and making a great catch!
