Dioner Navarro Launches Three Bombs Against The White Sox

Hey baseball world, have you ever heard of Chicago Cubs backup catcher Dioner Navarro? If you live in the windy city you do now! Dioner Navarro replaced Wellington Castillo in the lineup today and had a day to remember. The Chicago Cubs, who are desperate for any offense got it from their backup catcher. Dioner Navarro took John Danks yard twice hitting a solo shot in the second inning, and a two-run shot in the fourth inning. He hit a three-run shot in the seventh inning off of Brian Omogrosso. Navarro ended the day with 3HR, 6RBI, 4RUNS, and a walk in a 9-3 win against their arch rival White Sox in the The Windy City Showdown.
Navarro entered the game with 44 career home runs in 2,066 at-bats. That is, he had one homer for every 47 at-bats previously in his career. On Wedneday, Navarro homered in his only three at-bats.

In case you didn't know: Navarro is also a switch hitter, hitting two of his three home runs from the right hand side. The last Cub's player to hit three home runs in a game was Aramis Ramirez against Houston Astros three years ago. The last Cub's catcher to hit three home runs in a game was George Mitterwald on April 17, 1974, against Pittsburgh. Don't know how long Navarro will be able to keep the glass slipper on, but for one afternoon there will be a smile on his face!

Aaron Hicks Takes A Home Run Away From Carlos Gomez

Aaron Hicks does his own version of Kirby Puckett by making a spectacular catch, taking away a Carlos Gomez home run away early in the second inning. Denying that home run in the second inning gave his team a chance as the Twins and Brewers had to play extras. The game went 14 innings before Minnesota pulled it out 6-5.
Catch was so impressive that even Carlos Gomez tipped his hat to Aaron Hall.

New York Mets Send Mariano Rivera To Throw Out First Pitch

As Mariano Rivera's farewell tour continues, the best gesture any opponent has given him so far may have been tonight as the New York Mets showed the greatest closer of all-time the mound before the game. Mariano Rivera was given the ball to throw out the first pitch at Citi Field. Classy move by the Mets organization, Rivera represents the city and state of New York. It gets no better than that and well deserved.

Catching Rivera was Mets legend John Franco, who recorded 424 career saves of his own for the Amazin’s. Check out the video of the moment below.

Ben Revere Sacrafices His Body For A Great Catch

courtesy of sportsmockery.com

Ben Revere made an unbelievable catch Monday night taking away a for sure double from David Ortiz. In the process, Revere ran to the deepest part of Fenway Park right smack into the metal garage at full speed. He was able to hold onto the baseball; but was grimacing and grabbing his left elbow in
 sever pain. Take a look.

Revere was checked out by the trainer and lucky for him he dodged a bullet as x-rays came back negative. He will be dealing with some soreness and he will be day-to-day.

Adrian Beltre's Head Is The New Fetish

beltre2
Someone please tell me what is the big deal about Adrian Beltre's head? It's become a fetish to several of his teammates for years. When he does something remarkable you tend to see players touching (we call it SUCTION) his head. Does touching his head give good luck? By the look of Beltre's reaction, he does not tend to think so. Well, that's the wrong way to react especially around a bunch of grown men playing a child's game.

Adrian can thank former Seattle Mariners teammate Felix Hernandez because he is the one who exposed Beltre's pet peeve! If you don't like when people touch your head then don't go crazy when they do so. Everyone loves a train wreck!

Look at Adrian's reaction when teammates touch his head. This incident happened just last night. Elvis Andrus, is a thorn in Beltre's side and he loves to pick on him as they tend to horse around a lot. In the same game the two Ranger players fought over a pop fly, and Adrian swatted at Elvis before making the grab. courtesy of Eye on Baseball Even Manager Ron Washington joined in the fun. Watch Washington get some suction!
Ever since the Texas Rangers acquired him, they have been one of the best teams in baseball. So like it or not Beltre, suctioning your head is a good luck charm.

Adrian Beltre & Elvis Andrus Fight For A Infield Pop Up

beltre
It's must be nice being able to play for the Texas Rangers, who currently have the best record in baseball (32-17). So nice that Adrian Beltre and Elvis Andrus can clown around in the infield for a routine pop up. Beltre, who is probably the best defensive third baseman in the MLB called off Andrus several time, swatting him off while Andrus was snickering, being defiant and wouldn't layoff the play. Watch the result and Beltre's look after the play.

Earlier in the game there was a conference at the pitcher's mound and Elvis did a no no and grabbed Beltre's head. Adrian is notorious for being sensitive about his head as he loathes anyone touching it. Beltre tried to do a karate kick and threw his glove at Elvis but missed as Elvis ran back to his shortstop position. Fun times for the Texas Rangers!
