Baltimore Orioles gamble on 2-time Cy Young Award winner, Johan Santana, who was making a comeback before an MRI revealed a torn Achilles suffered during an extended Spring Training outing. Santana has been trying to come back from a second shoulder injury he tore last season with the New York Mets. Baltimore were hoping that Johan still had a little bit left in the tank to help a struggling Orioles pitching staff; but they will have to look elsewhere since he is officially done for the 2014 season.
Not sure if this is the end of a career or not for the 35-year-old Santana. The four-time all-star has had a remarkable career with a 139-78 record, 3.20ERA, with 1988 strikeouts.
The @Orioles' Johan Santana tore his left Achilles during extended spring training and is out for the rest of the season.
