Just when we thought it was okay to give the 2013 MVP to the last year's Triple Crown and MVP winner, Miguel Cabrera guess who decides to crash the party? Mike Trout, the sophomore sensation who finished second in the AL MVP vote last year. Trout had an answer to Cabrera's recent tear by hitting for the cycle on Tuesday night against the Seattle Mariners. Trout became the youngest player to hit for the cycle and the first player born in the '90s to accomplish such a feat!
The cycle started out shaky as he had barely beat out an in-field single to start things off in the third inning. Then he collected his second hit, an opposite field triple in the fourth inning off Aaron Harang. Mike's next opportunity came in the sixth inning against Lucas Luetge, that's when he hit a bases clearing double to put the Angels up 10-0. Last, but not least, Trout got a final at-bat in the eighth inning needing a home run to reach the cycle. He was facing Luetge again and smacked a 2-0 pitch over the center-field wall for a solo shot giving Mike Trout his first ever cycle. The last time the Los Angeles Angels had someone hit for the cycle was Chone Figgins in 2006.
Trout finished the game hitting for the cycle going 4-5 , stolen base and 5RBI as the Los Angeles Angels shutout the Seattle Mariners 12-0. Mike's biggest fan, his MOM, tweeted to the world:
