The I-70 interleague series hasn't been to kind to Kansas City Royals this year. The St. Louis Cardinals have feasted off the sliding Royals in the first three games of this series. In fact the last ten days have been brutal for KC; they were only a game under .500, sitting at 21-22 for the year. Then all of a sudden they went back to the team they have been since George Brett retired back in 1993. It's been so bad for the Royals organization, that George Brett finally committed himself to helping his beloved team as he was named the hitting coach immediately.

After blowing a 3-1 lead in the eighth inning, in last night game. The Royals eventually lost 5-3 for the third consecutive time against their state rival St. Louis Cardinals. Kansas City had a chance to salvage a victory out of the four game series by winning tonight's game. With a 2-2 tie in the ninth inning thanks to Jeff Francoeur solo home run; the Royals loaded bases and it began to rain, and rain, and rain some more. The rain delayed the game and hour at the start. It started up again at 10:32 pm before resuming a little after 3:00am central standard time. Was it wise for these two teams to continue this route especially when both teams have games today? This is the only time they meet this season.

Jeff Francoeur's Game Tying Home Run in the ninth What does a die-hard Royals or Cards fan do during a four-hour rain delay? Think about it, beer venders were long gone and after staying there past the first two hours, you can't leave now! When play resumed, Eric Hosmer hit a bases loaded double with no one out giving the Royals their first lead, 4-2. The bottom half of the inning Greg Holland retired the Cardinals in order to finally end the slide and a well deserve victory for Kansas City.  Here's a recap of the Royals and Cardinals game.
