Top 11 athletes that have been involved in a murder

In light of what's going on with the Aaron Hernandez, I thought we could take a look back at other disturbing situations that involve murder cases. Let's take a look at the top 11 athletes that were involved in the most heinous murders of all-time.

11. Dante Stallworth's DUI manslaughter charges
I think I can safely bet that Dante Stallworth is the first person to use a Bentley as a murder weapon. It was a 2005 Bentley coup used to kill 59-year-old Mario Reyes who was on his way to the bus depot headed home from work. Stallworth had admitted to drinking the night before as he was headed to the beach in Miami the next morning. Dante was going around 50mph when he reportedly saw Reyes walking. Stallworth flashed his lights giving Reyes a warning; but somehow he ended up hitting him anyway. Toxic reports came back and showed that Stallworth's blood alcohol level was 0.12, which is .04 over the nationwide legal limit. A Miami Beach police report said Reyes was not in a crosswalk on busy MacArthur Causeway when he was struck by the black 2005 Bentley luxury car driven by Stallworth. Dante must have had a helluva lawyer as he only had to pay a $200,000 fine, a 30-day jail sentence, and some community service.

10. Leonard Little's DUI manslaughter charges
After celebrating his birthday, Leonard Little got behind the wheel of his Lincoln Navigator with a blood alcohol level of 0.19 percent and struck Susan Gutweiler's car, killing her instantly in St. Louis, Missouri. Little received 90 days in jail, four years probation and had to perform 1,000 hours of community service. The NFL gave Little a 8-game suspension. Since the manslaughter conviction in '98, Leonard had a run in again behind the wheel. On April 24, 2004, he was arrested again for driving while intoxicated. How fitting, both Leonard and Dante Stallworth attended the University of Tennessee.

9. Robert Rozier involved in killing seven men
Though he was only a member of the St. Louis Cardinals for only six games we still link this disturbing man with the rest of the troubled athletes. Robert Rozier was involved with a black supremacist cult before joining Yahweh's secret group called "The Brotherhood". In order to be in the group he had to kill a "white devil"(a white male) and bring back body parts to the members before joining. In November 1986, Robert admitted to killing seven men in Florida and was sentenced to 22 years while only serving ten of the years because he agreed to testify against Yahweh's organization. He was later rearrested for passing back checks that totaled up more than $2,000. That became his third felony and now he is serving 25 years to life.

8. Mark Rogowski rape and murder case
Mark Rogowski ran in the same circles as legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk back in the day. Can you imagine what Mark would be today if he hadn't committed rape and murder on March 21, 1991. The born-again Christian changed his name to "Gator" though it didn't matter because he was an addict to drugs and alcohol. It was also believed that he was having psychological issues as well. "Gator" was contacted by Jessica Bergsten, who was a friend of his ex-girlfriend. She wanted Rogowski to show her around San Diego. When they were scheduled to go out, Bergsten was putting on shoes when Rogowski hit her in the head with The Club several times to the face and skull. Then he raped her over and over again. He then put her in a surfboard bag, drove her to the desert and then buried her. Rogowski pled guilty and received a 31-year prison term for the rape and murder of Jessica Bergsten.

This was not the way to spend Valentine's Day. Jayson Williams was sentenced to five years in prison for fatally shooting his limousine driver, Costas Christofi, back in 2002 at Jayson Williams's mansion in New Jersey. He was convicted on four counts for trying to cover up the shooting. Williams took out a shotgun to show some friends when the gun discharged and hit Christofi in the chest killing him immediately. Williams served 18 months in state prison under the terms of the plea. Williams started his sentence on February 23, 2010 and was released from Rikers on April 13, 2012.

How do you explain to a child when she was a newborn, that her father killed her mother after an argument in front of her grandmother? Then he eventually turned the gun on himself in front of the whole Kansas City Chiefs organization? Jovan Belcher was questioning the paternity of his newborn daughter which led to the shooting. Are you kidding me! Get a paternity test and if it AIN'T yours then dump her! This little girl will never ever know what her mom and dad's voices sound like. This kid would be better not knowing the truth at all.

The most decorated defensive football player of all-time was caught in a fatal brawl outside an Atlanta nightclub on January 31, 2000. Ray Lewis's group was involved in a scuffle with another group that left Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollar left for dead as both victims were slain to death due to multiple stab wounds. Their were no witnesses that accused Ray of killing the two men but Lewis admitted to giving misleading statements to police on the morning after the killings. Lewis pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice and received a 12 month probation sentence. The NFL fined Lewis a 250,000 fine and a slap on the wrist.

Oscar Pistorious fired off four shots through the bathroom door hitting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp three times. His reasoning was he thought Reeva was in bed asleep. He swore that an intruder had entered his home. There have been reports of an argument that led up to the slaying of Miss Steenkamp.

According to Reeva's mother, Mrs. Steenkamp: 'Listen, if you hurt my baby in any way I will have you wiped out'."
Trial is set for August, if in any way Oscar gets away with this murder, he better get a bodyguard or something because Reeva's mom will be after him.

3. Rae Caruth hired a hitman to kill his pregnant girlfriend

On November 16, 1999 Rae Caruth setup his eight months pregnant girlfriend Cherica Adams by stopping his car in front of hers. Another vehicle stopped alongside her and the passenger of that vehicle shoots her five times. Miss Adams was shot because Rae wanted her to have an abortion. She was able to dial 911 and give exact details of what happened to her. Cherica delivered a baby boy by emergency C-section. Unfortunately her son developed cerebral palsy. Caruth got out of jail by posting bail at 3 million dollar in good faith that if Miss Adams or the newborn baby dies, he would turn himself in. Cherica died a month later and guess who was America's Most Wanted? Caruth was found outside of Tennessee in the trunk of a car. Rae was sentenced to 18 to 24 years in prison and is scheduled to get out of prison on Oct. 22, 2018. Here's the disturbing part. Take a look at Rae's son Chancellor Lee Adams.

I can't believe O.J Simpson isn't the obvious pick anymore as his murder case was the most talked about case in US history. People still remember June 12, 1994 when Nicole Simpson & Ronald Goldman were found dead in front of Nicole's house. Then when O.J became a person of interest, the world was introduced to the White Bronco! That was supposed to be his getaway car as it was stocked with money, fake goatee, clothing.
Simpson hired the "Dream Team" (Robert Shapiro who turn it over to Johnnie Cochran and also included: F. Lee Bailey, Alan Dershowitz, Robert Kardashian, Gerald Uelmen, he had the best lawyers money can buy. This trial was shown daily up until the verdict which was must see tv. This case was the start of courtv! In the end, Johnnie Cochran had O.J try on the gloves and the famous words of "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit." O.J was acquitted and released from prison. This case was black and white. While Black Americans may have felt justice was served, White Americans believe the opposite. I guess it didn't matter much, O.J found himself doing time anyway after being charged with criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, assault, robbery, and using a deadly weapon in Las Vegas. This time there was no Johnnie Cochran and he is now serving a 33 year sentence with parole after 9 years.

credit www.nydailynews.com1. Aaron Hernandez is accused of slaying a friend and under investigation of a double homicide back in July 2012.
We are just scratching the surface with Mr. Hernandez, who has been charged with the murder of semi-pro football player, Odin Lloyd. Lloyd was found at an industrial site by a jogger just a mile away from former New England Patriot's home. With all the surveillance camera footage, text messages and witnesses who heard the gunshots, it almost looks like a slam dunk in convicting Hernandez. Either Hernandez took Lloyd down to the industrial site and executed him, hisself or he witnessed the execution of Odin Lloyd. We don't know yet the motive but Lloyd must have known something was going down because he was texting his whereabouts at 3am.
After getting into the car, Lloyd allegedly texted a family member, asking, "Did you see who I am with," prosecutors said. He then texted that it was Hernandez and followed it up with "Just so you know" in another text message, the prosecutors alleged during the arraignment.
Do you believe that investigators are trying to connect Hernandez with other homicides? Authorities are still investigating Hernandez's home for a possible double murder that happen last July in Boston. This is to be continued.
